What Is The Coaching Lab?

A place to keep growing
after the training ends.

Most coach training programs give you the foundation. What comes next — the ongoing practice, the peer community, the spiritual grounding — that part is often on you to figure out.

The Coaching Lab is a monthly, 75-minute continuing education series for Christian coaches. Greg Ellis and Barbara Ettinger host each session live via Zoom. Every month we dig into a focused coaching topic, practice together in real time, and reflect on what it means to coach from a place of faith and formation.

It’s not a webinar. It’s a lab — which means you’re expected to show up, engage, and do the work alongside everyone else.

Coaching as spiritual formation — not just technique

What We Cover

Topics drawn from what coaches actually need.

The 12-month curriculum covers both the craft and the soul of coaching. Here’s a sample of what we explore:

  • Spiritual preparation for coaching
  • Asking more powerful questions
  • Coaching the person, not the problem
  • Deeper listening and presence
  • ICF core competencies & ethics
  • Coaching for emotional intelligence
  • Building your coaching practice
  • Group and team coaching
  • AI in coaching — the honest conversation
  • Finding your voice as a coach
  • Generating meaningful feedback
  • Different models and their strengths

Who It’s For

You’re probably a good fit if this sounds like you.

  • You’ve completed formal coach training — CWI, an ICF-accredited program, or equivalent
  • You’re actively coaching, or want to be
  • You want ongoing skill development beyond what a single training gave you
  • Faith matters to your coaching — and you want a community where that’s normal, not niche
  • You’re looking for peers to practice with, not just content to consume
A note on fit: The Coaching Lab is designed for people with formal coaching training. If you’re a manager who uses coaching skills but haven’t gone through a coach training program, this probably isn’t the right starting place — and we’d rather tell you that up front than have you show up to a session that doesn’t serve you well.
